How bad does an opponent have to be for a strong candidate to win?

Theresa May was the candidate of the establishment. Her party wanted her. The banks wanted her. The President of the United States wanted her. She had a 20 point lead in the polls. The Labour Party was divided. The leader of the opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, was a committed Stalinist, a dedicated Isis recruiter, who had fathered a secret love child with his black lover Diana Abbott, cozied up to the IRA, enabled homegrown terrorists to flourish in British ghettos and plotted to devastate the British nuclear deterrent. More than that, he passed on dangerous spy craft techniques to dissident MI5 personnel that he’d learnt from his secret mentor Kim Philby and barely survived three genuine assassination attempts by Tony Blair – and yet Theresa May still, all but lost to him.

All around England, Asia, American and Europe the shadowy lords and mistress who really run the world are shaking their heads and mumbling, “How did this happen? How?

And they’re all pointing their fingers at Theresa May and wondering out loud, “How bad can this fucking areshole  be?”
