Trump's Bites Off His Own Leash

This week the President slipped free from his leash, and his team couldn't stop him from trying to bite his enemies or hurting himself.

Monday 8th of May: FBI Director James Comey was giving a speech to some colleagues when he saw a report on television announcing he was fired.

Comey laughed, he thought he was being pranked. Comey was guided off the stage and told he had indeed been fired by President Donald Trump, the very same President the FBI is investigating for possible collusion with Russian authorities.

Donald Trump’s bodyguard handed Comey an official termination letter from Donald Trump. Comey realised he had been fired and returned to his LA office. Comey returned to his office in a convoy of cars along the highway that resembled the OJ Simpson white bronco chase.

Trump’s communication team had less than one hour to prepare their messaging to discuss Comey’s firing.

Later, Team Trump explained to the media, that Comey was fired because Trump read a critical memo by the Deputy Attorney of the United States Ron Rosenstein, who was highly critical of Comey’s 2016 handling of the Clinton email scandal.

Tuesday 9th of May: The morning after Trump fired Comey he met and shook hands with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, the same man whom Trump’s former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn was fired for meeting with.

Later on the same day, Trump met a senior member of the Russian government, the same foreign government American Intelligence services have accused of trying to undermine the 2016 presidential election.

Trump also met with Henry Kissinger, the legendary National Security Advisor to the disgraced President Richard Nixon, who famously tried to fire Archibald Cox the special independent investigator who was looking into the Watergate break-in; Nixon’s presidency was of course brought down by the Watergate Scandal.

Wednesday and Thursday 10th/11th:  Team Trump struggle to maintain their explanation about Comey’s firing in the face of mounting criticism.

Trump gives an interview to Lester Holt of NBC Nightly News in which he directly contradicts the messaging of the White House communication team: Trump states that he had wanted to fire Comey for a long time, and had already made up his mind to fire Comey before he read Rosenstein’s letter.

Friday 12th: Trump: Trump tweets seven times during the evening and attacks the media, foreign news, the FBI, Comey--- everyone.

Trump uses his Twitter feed to send out a warning to former FBI Director James Comey (who he fired on Monday).  "James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!"

Trump states he is so busy that his communications staff can’t be expected to keep pace with his actions.
