Five American Eagles Come Together
Five living American Presidents - Carter, Bush Snr, Bush Jnr, Clinton and Obama - came together at what was purportedly a non-political bash to raise money for hurricane-affected areas. The great men quickly turned the event into a shameless effort to relaunch their version of Brand America as the greatest, most dynamic, most creative, most accessible, most diverse, most accepting nation on the planet.
This was a clear repudiation of President Trump's “America First” brand.
The five presidents came together to rub some spit and polish on their personal and party brands and reassure their troubled citizens they hadn’t been sold a lie for their entire lives. Trust a group of seasoned, hard-bitten political elders to use an unprecedented natural mass disaster to mark out the political ground they're demanding that their respective stumbling parties wholeheartedly embrace over the remainder of Trump's term.
Now that the ground has been staked out and polished up by these canny political elders, we can expect both the Republican and Democratic parties to start to push forward traditional Republican and Democratic star candidates who can, by espousing these shared values, take their parties forward by going back to the future.
These five presidents appear to have decided to use their last breaths to bring Donald Trump down.
Anyone who can join Carter, the two Georges, Clinton and Obama against him, must be doing something right OR something incredibly wrong.
There’s no middle ground.
